About 6 months back, I took a course on Tui Na for Children with Econ TCM.
I wanted to learn how to do the TCM type of massage for my children, so as to boost their immune system, and to make them feel better, recover faster when they fall sick.
I didn’t use ALL the methods taught, because Donald did not like some of them, so every night, I would just do a simple massage for Donald on the bed, before he falls asleep, consisting of the following…
1. spinal “pinching” (nie1 ji1)
2. fingers and toes “awakening”
3. stomach massage (to ease his constipation)
4. rubbing of limbs
5. head acupoints massage (if he lets me do it)
RESULTS?
As Donald is attending pre-school, all parents know that once children start attending school, you will expect them to fall sick once a month. During the first 3 months of the consistent night massage, Donald was still falling sick once a month, but…
For the whole month of August, September and October, he did not fall sick at all, not once!
And because his body immune system is stronger, it helps to prevent Toria from falling sick too, even though I didn’t massage for Toria as she didn’t like it at all.
I know, many of you would say to me now “touch wood, touch wood!”
But I just wanted to share my joy with you!
So append below are the course details, please pass this news to more parents as you please.

note: can mention that you are recommended by Ms Feng. (not on commission
)
She does group lessons, which is 1 hour session over 6 weeks. I am not too sure on the fees.
I did one-on-one with her, which is 1 hour session over 4 weeks. She charged me $240.
The fee include lecture notes in mandarin and english translation, plus practical session with your own child.
The course covers tuina methods for children until the age of 12, but many of the methods taught can be done for adults too. It would be better if you can understand and read mandarin, because it would be easier to remember the methods and acu points in mandarin.
The focus of the course is to boost your child’s immunity, especially towards the flu, cold and cough; build up their spleen, kidneys, lungs, brain, eyes.
The reason why I took the course is because I know my children, they most certainly won’t lie still for a stranger to massage them, so better I do it myself. Many places does XIAO ER TUI NA (tui na for children), but so far have not come across any other place teaching it.

Enjoy!

reali good! im also considering tui na for both my gals as they are often sick…my younger gal often got bronchitis
Hi Jes,
Really should consider doing it, save you more “heartaches” of caring for sick children in the long run.
hi bonita. remember me from our kids’ bridesmaid/bridesgroom duties? good to hear you have 4 kids now. just wondering about the tuina-do you still find it improves the kids’ immunity? i am facing the same thing as you with my daughter. out of curiousity, why do you do spinal pinching every day, as my friend taught me that it was meant for curing fevers…
Hi! Yes I do remember you!
Well, I’ve been very lazy to do it everyday. But my kids love the spinal thing. They keep bugging me to do it.
The teacher who taught me said that it can be done everyday, to stimulate the immune system.
