Toria’s 2nd Birthday Celebration

September 27th, 2008 · 3 Comments · Uncategorized

Ah… our darling Victoria is 2!

When a child is in infant stage, it is fun, but it is also a lot of work on our part, but once they turn 18 months, it is like a major reward for the parents, because it simply gets SOOO fun!  For the past 6 months, Toria had been a great joy to watch, a nice warm fuzzy lovely toddler … absolutely enjoyable!

We did not hold a major birthday party, maybe a few years later, when she is more knowing and have friends she would like to invite.  So this year, it is just family, and we decided to have a BBQ at our condo’s pit.  One of the reason was also because the kids have never been to a BBQ session, it would be nice for them to have this experience.

Toria was really excited, when we asked her “Whose birthday is it today?”, she would shout “ME!”.  When we asked her “How old are you today?”, she would still shout “ME!” LOL!

Everyone arrived around 6pm, except Yee Yee, who came much earlier.  They gathered at our house, giving presents, ang pows, hugs and kisses for kids.  Ah Gu and Ah Gong brought presents, not just for Toria, also for Donald too, and that’s all thanks to some memories from childhood! hee hee hee!  (you see, way back when we were younger, whenever it is someone’s birthday, my dad would bring us shopping, and not just the birthday person gets a present… EVERYONE gets a present! cos we will all “demand” one…. LOL!)

We then quickly proceeded downstairs for the celebration, so that we can capture nice pictures with the natural sunlight.

First, we had the cake!  Gu Gu was elated when she saw the lady bugs on the cupcakes!

We ordered from www.mybbq.com.sg and the food was great!  For $150, we had the following catered for 10 pax + 2 kids…

1) 50 sticks of chicken satay
2) 5 ketupat
3) 20 spicy otah
4) 15pcs of honey chicken wings (3 joints)
5) 10 chicken hotdog
6) 5 pkts of sambal stingray in foil
7) 5 sweet corn in foil
8) 10 sweet potato in foil
9) 1 pkt of marshmallows
10) Agar Agar for 10 pax
11) Curry chicken for 10 pax
12) Fried Bee Hoon for 10 pax
13) 50 forks
14) 50 large paper plates
15) BBQ brush
16) A4 Aluminium tray
17) 12″ tongs
18) 2 pkts of serviettes
19) 3 black trash bags
20) 6kg of charcoal
21) Butter
22) Chili Sauce
23) 24 pkts of chrysanthemum tea
24) 24 btls of mineral water
25) Foam Box
26) Ice
27) Skewer Kit

The food was nice and my gosh… we couldn’t finish them!  Thank goodness for Ah Gu and Del, they set up the fire and was fully in charge of BBQ-ing the entire night!  Everyone was especially impressed with my maid, Del.  She was super fast and efficient bbq-ing all the satay and chicken and stuff, she was like a little robot maniac, taking over the entire bbq pit!

We dressed Toria up in this pretty little dress we found in Thomson Plaza, and took a lot of nice pictures for her.

Well, Toria showed a little “cleavage” under this dress… more like breast bone I think!  hahaha! And Oma insisted to have a look, took a little “advantage” and kissed Toria’s “cleavage”! LOL! You could see the “look” on Toria’s face on the last pix in the collection… shows her “reaction”! Naughty Oma! :D

The kids were running all over, and Donald had a minor fall.  Insisted on a plaster, so had to bring him upstairs, clean him with chlorohexidine and pasted a waterproof dressing for him (fantastic things to stock up at home when you have kids! :D )  Ah Ma was commenting that when we fell down when we were small, our grandmother just rubbed some saliva on the wound!  Oh yah… those were the days… :)

It was a great night, except for mosquito bites.  Before splitting up, we all went to newton circus food centre for some dessert and fish porridge.

Thank you, Oma, Ogu, Ah Gong, Ah Ma, Yee Yee, Ah Gu and Ming Hui, for making the effort to come and for your lovely gifts.  Thank you for making this day such a wonderful one for Toria and all of us!
