Ok, I am getting very comfy with my beco. Â Moved away from ergo. Â But still am thankful for the ergo that brought me through 2 kids, 4 years!
Well, the beco is good in many ways, the only “negative” for me, is that it is more “lay chay” to wear compared to ergo. Â Maybe only those who tried both will understand what I mean. For ergo, you just straddle the child in front and lift the cloth over her and wear it. Â For beco, you have to be “ready”. Â Ie, you need to wear the structure properly BEFORE you carry the child into straddle position. Â A bit tricky when you have a baby and have no where to put her down to do that. Â Of cos, with a bit of practice, you can transfer her arm to arm and wear the beco’s internal structure. Â BUT this little negative cannot dampen the positives of a beco.
The positives of a beco compared to ergo are
1) when not in use, it can be folded up neatly and still be tied around your waist. Â It looks like a hip seat. For ergo, it will be “hanging loose”
2) it can carry very young infants in the back carry position. Â The “lay chay” wearing structure, makes it very safe and easy to transfer the baby from front to back position, without any help. Â It is like moving a backpack, that easy! Â I can eat or do housework without any problems. Â
3) it can be transferred from person to person without the child getting out of the carrier. Â the “lay chay” structure is the one that “sandwiches” the child, so removing the back and the waist buckle, you can just pass the entire structure with the child in it, over to another person, by just holding the shoulder straps. Great for sleeping babies!
4) the design is prettier.
Liz loves the beco, if she sees me wearing that, AND didn’t carry her into it, she would wail!!!
