The time has come again…. Time for horrible hair days… for months…
I didn’t record this event after Donald’s birth, but I did for Toria’s birth, because the hair loss after Toria was HORRIFYING. Â Â (see Post Partum Hair Loss Episode 2). Now, this is to record for post-Lizzie.
25/3, Lizzie is 3.5mths old, that day, I started to feel that my hair was “funny”, couldn’t pin point exactly why, and that marked the start of my hair dropping days. Â So far, it hasn’t been super bad, at least not as bad as Toria’s time. Â But already my maid is so appalled! Â Well, can’t blame her, cos she had never seen the hair fall during Toria’s time.
During pregnancy, I really hardly had any hair fall. Â I had long hair, which given normal days, you will see some strands of hair after a shampoo, but I can say that almost NONE fell out for the entire 9 months! Â So you can imagine how thick my hair was, post partum.
But this time round, Â I did 2 things, which I hope will help lessen the severity.
1) I went for a good haircut at about 3 months post partum. Â The stylist kept my hair length, but he took off SO much hair. Â My hair looked almost the same, but MUCH MUCH lighter. Â So lighter hair, less stress for the scalp, less hair drop?
2) I started to use Anti-hair loss shampoo/conditioner and treatment at 3.5months, cos I knew it occurs around 4 months post partum. Â Klorane is the brand. Â Bought it from Guardian, cos they were having some promo, buy 1 box, get 1 box free. Â 1 Box has 12 sticks, to last for 1 month. Â So about 3 sticks of treatment a week. Â Massage them mainly along the hairline, cos that’s where my thinning usually is. Â Hopefully can arrest the problem??
These pictures of hair fall are of 1 wash. Â The bathroom ones are the hair fall from shampoo. Â The one on the dry floor one are hair that drop to the floor when I blow dry my hair.

**update as of 18/5/09**
it is now 5 months post partum and I can see that the hair drop has lessen considerably. Â Quite surprised cos during Toria’s time, past 6 months post partum, my hair was still falling quite a fair bit! Â Anyway, my hairline is still thin, especially near the temple area, quite bald. Â Very obvious when I tie all my hair up. Â But I am really glad that the problem is arrested.

I could definitely identify with you on this hair loss problem.
It’s so depressing to see hair everywhere on the floor and in the bathroom sink hole!
Ralph is shedding hair as well, so the short strands are his while the longer ones are mine. Argh, this is not good.
