Wondering why I had not been updating my blog recently? Â Well, from 2nd May, we are officially “maid-less”!
We tried to ask Del to stay because Liz is still so young, it will be difficult for me to change and train a new helper, but she was more keen to look for “expat” families. Â So she gave me a “take it or leave it” offer (I want $XXX and every sunday offs, then I will stay, otherwise…) Â and had the audacity to ask me to write her a referral letter, so that she could enjoy much higher pay with all the offs possible, so things turned sour for a while. Â
A rainbow saved the day, and we decided to open cards and negotiate and reached an agreement for her to continue another 2 years. Â But in April, something happened and her attitude showed me that maybe it wouldn’t be beneficial for both of us if she stayed… she was getting impatient and curt and talking back to me in a way that I felt that it was not something I want to go through for the next 2 years. Â So we called it quits.
Nonetheless, it was a happy parting of ways. Â We decided on 2nd May for her to return home. Â Used our krisflyer miles and redeemed an SQ ticket for her. Â Send her to the airport, had breakfast together, took some pix and send her to the gate. Â I was wondering whether the kids will cry? They DIDN’T, but I did!
We were planning to go to Japan for a week from 29th May, just me and Daddy and the 3 kids. Â So I thought I will rather do WITHOUT a maid for the upcoming 3 weeks, more like a training ground for me on handling the kids alone and without help, and then the 1 week holiday would be a reward for me. Â But the weeks leading up to her departure, I was paranoid. Â I wasn’t sure if I could handle it. Â There were so many situations that made me think “If I don’t have a helper, how am I going to handle this?” Â Like for example, I bring 3 kids to food court for lunch, how am I going to leave my stuff at the table while bring all 3 kids along to buy food? Â After all the food is on the table, and Toria wants to pee, how am I going to leave all the food, my bags and shopping stuff at the table and bring all 3 kids to the bathroom? Â Things like that, Â I really scratch head. Â I went around asking for advice, from mummies handling kids without helper, like Sherrie with 2 kids, Delci with 2 kids, Lennie with 6 kids. Â Their replies did help to prepare me mentally. Â Thanks Ladies!
We will only look for a helper AFTER our holidays.  Have to, cos I need to start my Parent Volunteer Duties next term!  So meantime, NO MAID!  Help me God!

hah, my kids just went “bye” when our #2 maid went home. We didn’t even send her to airport.
