Liz is 6 months! Â It’s time to introduce her to solids!
Starting with simple food, and here I am, making apple purees to be frozen. Â Apple and pear puree, added with some cinnamon powder, is YUMMY! As with Toria, I will be preparing purees for Liz from the Annabel KArmel’s 100 baby’s favorite puree book. Â Yummy!
No maid yet, so beco-ing again.

Why don’t you just stay maidless? And instead get a helper that comes like 2 or 3x a week? I would way prefer that.
You are a cool mama! And how do you take pics like that? Do you use the tripod or is dh or donald taking the pics for you?
I like sam’s suggestion. I’d love to find a part-timer who’d come a few times a week for me and just do cleaning and perhaps some simple cooking. I thot abt it but have too much inertia with my current one, she’s reasonably good, and most importantly, trustworthy.
Ee Lin, no need to cook, lah. Just clean the house, do laundry & ironing good enough.
The rest I’d handle myself. That’s what I did when I had 3 kids under 6years old and no maid for 1 year. The part-timer came 3x/week for 3hrs each time. Almost like price of a live-in maid but no need to see her face permanently.
I also found it quite ok when my maid went back on home-leave for 1 mth and we did the full works of household chores, everything was just great. We didn’t have a baby then, lah. I so look forward to not having a maid. Great freedom without a stranger around. That’s why I’m not sure why Bonita keeps looking for a new helper.
Part time helper, each time $30-36, 3 x per week = $90-108, 4 wks = $360-432, seriously, costs about the same as a maid’s salary but I don’t have her help anytime I need.
Plus now schedule is changing,
- I’m doing PV, 2 hours week, while baby is sleeping, need someone to be home to babysit.
- Helping my dad with business, runs into Msia few hours at a go, need someone to handle the kids.
- Children all follow when go on business trips for a few days, need someone to babysit them in the car or hotel when I’m seeing customers/suppliers.
- when kids all asleep, I want to be able to go “gai gai” with hubby…
so all these add together, really much prefer the convenience of having a live-in “babysitter”.
My mil offered to come and help EVERYDAY… don’t want lah… she comes means she take care of kids right? so I do housework? can’t possibly ask HER to do housework right? What for? I become SAHM is to spend time with my kids, not to do housework! If we can afford it, we rather pay someone else to do the work…
Long term wise, I was thinking, maybe another 2 more years, when the baby goes to preschool, everyone goes to school about the same time, maybe then I won’t need a maid… so see how lah…
dh was the one taking pix.
seeing the puree being scooped into the ice-cube holders bring back memories of the weekly puree-ing for my daughter last year. But me getting lazy now that she’s able to take “adult” food. So your business is now based in Malaysia? Must be so tiring to drive in-and-out.
