Progress in Swimming Skills

September 14th, 2009 · No Comments · School & Enrichments

Recently, several people asked me about where I send my kids for swim classes etc.  I am glad to reply them that my kids are learning with UNCLE PENGUIN, and they are progressing fantastically well under his coaching.

At 4, Donald was still very afraid of the water, crying and screaming and super stressed during each swim class we had, over at Marsden.  So I stopped all swim classes for a while.  He is now 5.5yrs, and much more confident in the water.  Let’s see some of the things he can do now.  Mind you, these things were “unthinkable” just a few months back, for someone who nearly drowned!

Here he is, lying flat on his back on a mat without anyone holding him; holding a kickboard and kicking away in the big pool without anyone holding him; holding a kickboard and kicking away, with his head submerged in the water; holding the noodles, prone position, putting his head into the water voluntarily, without anyone holding him.

Kicking away from the stairs to Uncle Penguin, submerging himself in water; and back to the stairs.  On our own, when we are playing, he would submerge himself and swim under something.

After his class, I would usually let them play in the pool for a while.  Lizzie loves to play in the water too!
