Donald’s Birthday Party!

February 20th, 2010 · 1 Comment · Just Family

I’m not the type of mummy who organises huge birthday bashes for my kids every year.  Because, it is too expensive, too wrecking for my poor brain to think of ideas for the party, and I think the people who keep getting invited by us every year, will get sick of coming, especially if I hold 1 for EACH of my kid every year!

So I decided to make a pact with the kids.

They will each get to hold a BIG birthday party on their 6th birthday.

Why 6th? Well, firstly, they will be old enough to decide who they want to invite; they will be old enough to remember this FIRST party they had and have great memories of it; and it is like a “conclusion” to their preschool years, a celebration with their pre-school friends.  They will likely have a different group of friends when they go to primary school right?

So this year, Donald turns 6, and he gets a PARTY!

BUT…his birthday, 19 Feb, falls during the CNY period, and the date that we had planned for, the 20th Feb, Saturday, is the 7th day of the CNY! Plenty of visitations to do, who is going to come for his party?

So I planned his party, to be held at Raffles Gymnastics Academy, from 8-10am! (Auntie Sherrie said that it was the earliest party that she had ever been to!) And I wrote in his invitation card, explaining the reason behind the early timing was so that the party won’t impose on their CNY visitations!

To our surprise, the response was overwhelming!  There were a total of 32 kids who came to the party, together with 30+ adults!  It was such an exciting and fun time!

Raffles Gym’s coaches played games with the kids, brought them in groups, from station to station. Trampoline, beam, bar, floor exercises… the kids were all perspiring and had so much fun!

Last 30 min was for the birthday celebration.  I ordered a transformers cake for Donald.  A design I took off the web, and asked E-creative to do a cake for me, and they could.  The result was amazing.  It was a gorgeous cake!  It was such joy to see all the kids gather around Donald, singing him a birthday song!

We ordered food from ISS catering.  Their spread is amazing.  So far, after surfing the net fpr different caterers, ISS offered the most variety and number of dishes per price range, and the food was great and yummy!  Raffles Gym set up seats for us outside the gym, and everyone just made themselves comfortable, and enjoyed the food and cake before calling it day morning.

Donald had a great time at the party, we can see that he really enjoyed himself, seeing so many friends coming together to celebrate this special day with him.  When we went home, he took pictures with the presents he received.  Look at the countless funny faces and poses he had!  He must had been really elated!

We want to say a BIG thank you for all of you who made the effort to come to such an early birthday party! Thank you for enjoying yourselves, and thank you for your generous gifts.  We appreciate your presence on this beautiful occasion! Loves, Hugs and Kisses from us all!

Next party…. Victoria’s…. in 2012! LOL!
