Our dearest Ee Zai, Laura and Garrette is going home to Cambridge, London. They had been here for a month, and it was time to go home. The next time they come will be at least 5 years from now. By then, they will be such big boy and girl! And Isabella would be almost Donald’s size! Wow…what a long wait.
I allowed Donald and Toria to skip school for a day, so that we can send them off at the airport. Donald does not really remember our trip to their house when he was 1.5years old, nor does he remember the time when they came in 2007 and visited us at our old place in Casabella. But just from this trip alone, he had developed such a liking and bonding with Laura and Garrette. He was really happy to be able to send them off at the airport. At the airport, he asked me whether he can go visit them on a Friday, and come back on a Sunday! LOL! He had no idea how far they are, or how ex the tickets are! We were all laughing!
It was quite a big crowd. Oma, Wendy, Oma’s eldest bro and wife, Oma’s younger brother and grandma, plus me, my helper, and 3 little kids.Â
After they had checked in, we took some group pictures together.
We then went to Popeye’s for some snack.
When it was time for them to board, we sent them to the gate and everyone hugged them. Even little Liz said “bye!”
When we came home, in the afternoon, Donald had this weird expression on his face, like a very sheepish look, with something to tell me but don’t dare to tell me type of look. He finally asked me, whether they will come back after 1 year or 3 years? When I told him 3 years, he started to sob and sob. It took him a while to settle down.
Later on, OGu heard about it, so she called him to chat on the phone. Donald was telling her that they will be back when he is 9 years old, right? But OGu said, it will be at least 5 years, by then he will be 11 years old! Donald looked visibly shocked! When he hung up the phone, he started to sob again! I had to hug him for a long long time to calm him down. He said he missed them.Â
Oma called too, and when I told her that he cried again. Oma told him that during the school holidays, she will bring him to visit them in London. That calmed him down abit. But the whole night and even the next morning, he kept asking me whether he can speak to them on the phone yet???Â
It was actually very sweet to know that he is capable of such deep feelings, emotions and attachment. I’m very touched….
