How I manage without help

May 21st, 2009 · 5 Comments · Uncategorized

So.. how do I manage to get by with a 5 yr old, a 2.5yr old and a 6mths old baby? For one, I don’t cook, I don’t fancy it and I doubt I can cook in peace with a baby who needs to be fed at 5+pm and put to bed by 7pm, plus [...]

High Chair?

May 18th, 2009 · 3 Comments · Uncategorized

Gave up on my past high chairs.  Sold my Aprica “high chair cum bed”, sold my Ikea antilop.  Both couldn’t really “fit” into my dining table.  They couldnt be flushed against the table, due to height differences. Custom made 2 teak high chair, without buckle type, but she will only be able to sit by [...]

Make Do Easel

May 1st, 2009 · No Comments · Uncategorized

Small house, no space for a standalone easel, so this will do.  Paste an A3 size plain paper on my cabinet door,  Donald will sometimes draw something, or write a chinese sentence or we will do phonics spelling.  But I will have to keep a watch out that the pencil doesn’t stray outside the paper. [...]

Post Partum Hair Loss Episode 3

April 29th, 2009 · 1 Comment · Uncategorized

The time has come again…. Time for horrible hair days… for months… I didn’t record this event after Donald’s birth, but I did for Toria’s birth, because the hair loss after Toria was HORRIFYING.    (see Post Partum Hair Loss Episode 2). Now, this is to record for post-Lizzie. 25/3, Lizzie is 3.5mths old, that [...]

Quality Time Daddy+Donald

April 19th, 2009 · 1 Comment · Uncategorized

Since the birth of Liz, there had been some changes to Donald & Toria’s bedtime. Previously, they would sleep at 11pm, waking up 9/10am.  But after Liz was born, they started to wake up at 7am, so they CAN’T continue sleeping only at 11pm, so calculating based on the amount of sleep they require at [...]

Lap Dance?

April 18th, 2009 · 1 Comment · Uncategorized

This is how I manage to eat my meals if Liz is whiny.  I would put her tummy down on my lap.  Normally, she would stop crying and happily look around.  If she cries, I would just jiggle my legs.  If it is near her nap time, she will actually fall asleep in this position. [...]

Beco in Action

April 18th, 2009 · No Comments · Uncategorized

Ok, I am getting very comfy with my beco.  Moved away from ergo.  But still am thankful for the ergo that brought me through 2 kids, 4 years! Well, the beco is good in many ways, the only “negative” for me, is that it is more “lay chay” to wear compared to ergo.  Maybe only [...]

Spork

April 14th, 2009 · 1 Comment · Uncategorized

backdated to 28th March 2009 Sometimes when we eat out, we face the problem of finding metal spoon/fork for the kids to eat their food.  So we went to buy Sporks.  It is a combination of SPoon, fORK and knife.  Costs less than $6 i think, available at all big department stores.  So now, we [...]

Fluffy? Foo Foo?

April 8th, 2009 · 2 Comments · Uncategorized

I am using the California Baby Hair Conditioner as a leave in conditioner for my girls.  I saw how effective it was on Toria’s hair.  Her hair was a little dry before and would be wispy, after using the conditioner for some time, her hair now is soft and smooth.  Many people noticed her good hair quality [...]

1-on-1 with Toria

April 1st, 2009 · 2 Comments · Uncategorized

This “appointment” had been long overdue.  My heart goes out to Toria, she doesn’t get full attention from us.  When baby is asleep, I am doing worksheets with Donald.  When Donald is done, baby wakes up, and she wants our attention.  Toria, being the middle child, is stuck in between.  She becomes whiny, everytime I [...]

March 27th, 2009 · 1 Comment · Uncategorized

Toria is 2.5 years old. I wanted to toilet train her during the March Hols, but had to travel, so decided to delay it. On 25th Mar (Wed), I asked her teachers whether we could start toilet training her, ie let her go diaper free, the teachers confirmed ok.  So on 26th Mar (Thu), I [...]

Bye Bye Cradle Cap!

March 13th, 2009 · 5 Comments · Uncategorized

Liz had cradle cap, but I just left it on its own.  Today, I decided to have a “clean up”, so I soaked her head with J & J baby oil, and massage away while watching TV.  Most of the cradle cap came off. This SimpleViewer gallery requires Macromedia Flash. Please open this post in [...]

Charts are Helpful!

March 7th, 2009 · No Comments · Uncategorized

Our nice built in cabinets in the living room was, once upon a time, nice and clean.  Now… it is nearly full of charts, pasted all over the place! Firstly, there are 2 reward charts for Donald.   One reward chart is for his “work”, as he likes to call it.  We do worksheets together [...]

Play Dough Substitute

January 22nd, 2009 · 2 Comments · Uncategorized

Donald helped me discover this accidentally.  He took down some of the paper I had “blu-tacked” on the wall and plucked out the blutack and started playing with it.  He made little models with it.  Motorbikes…. airport control tower, pizza, table and chairs etc. Initially I was quite upset.  But later on, I realised that [...]

Siesta in Stroller

January 20th, 2009 · No Comments · Uncategorized

I thought the kid sitting in front won’t be able to sleep, but I was wrong.  If the back passenger is small like Liz, the front seat can still be tilted down, so Toria could sleep too.  Good investment huh!?! We can actually bring the other single pram out and all 3 can have a [...]

Bottled Expressed Milk

January 4th, 2009 · 4 Comments · Uncategorized

For the first 2 weeks, Lizzie was totally breastfed at the “source” so as to establish the milk supply and ensure she does not get “nipple confusion”.  After 2 weeks, on the 1st Jan 2009 night, she had her first bottle of expressed breastmilk for the 10/1030pm feed.  Based on Gina Ford’s method, because milk [...]

Breastfeeding Made Easy!

December 31st, 2008 · 14 Comments · Uncategorized

Previous Experience Donald was breastfed for 2 years, Toria for 1.5 years.  Even though Toria eats most food and fruits, compared to Donald who does not eat any fruits and vegetables, except banana,  her immunity is not as strong as Donald.  Whenever she gets a running nose or cough, it will slowly become a full [...]

Daddy to the Rescue!

December 27th, 2008 · 2 Comments · Uncategorized

Daddy has really stepped up!  Previously he was terrified of seeing blood, but he plucked up his courage to come into the OT and witnessed my epidural caeserean. Previously, he never really brought the kids out by himself, he will usually bring Oma along or our maid along to help him.  But this time, during [...]

The Quest has Ended…

November 8th, 2008 · 3 Comments · Uncategorized

One of the things that you can do to help older siblings look forward to the arrival of a new baby, is to prepare a present for the older sibling on behalf of the baby, to be presented to them when they come to the hospital to see the baby for the 1st time. Donald [...]

Special Note

October 14th, 2008 · No Comments · Uncategorized

This, I learned from “How to talk to Kids…” I was having trouble getting Donald to come and take a shower.  So one day, I had enough of the frustration of repeating myself umpteen times, so I wrote this note “No Shower, No Hug Mummy to Sleep” and pasted it on the bathroom door.  Donald [...]

Medicine Time for Toria

September 22nd, 2008 · No Comments · Uncategorized

When Toria was a tat younger, she would refuse to take her medicine, so I would grab her, lie her down and pin her arms down under my legs, then squirt the medicine into her mouth. Now, this position has become her medicine taking position.  When I call out “medicine time!”, she would lie down [...]
